Celebrating our Collaboration with San Francisco artist Usha Shukla

Poetic Pillow is thrilled to announce our collaboration
with San Francisco artist Usha Shukla.
Poetic Pillow x Usha Shukla brings her beautiful work into your home by combining our innovative fabric printing with Usha’s vibrant designs.  We are featuring several new pillows from two of Usha’s series, keeping with our vision to transform your home and create meaningful space through art and design.

Originally from India, Usha has always been fascinated with the outdoors, and her paintings reflect her deep love of nature.  After an extensive education, Usha realized her true passion for art on a visit to the Louvre Museum in Paris.  She then completed her graduate program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, focusing on painting.

In this stunning display, one can almost feel the delicate breath of a sweet flower opening to the new day.  As Usha said recently,
“I see nature as hues and textures: A leaf is no longer a leaf and a cloud, nothing but shifting colors. The color palette is derived from the harmony of colors I perceive in nature.”
USH-006  Morning Light
Inspired by the time Usha Shukla spent in her garden, “Morning Light” represents the harmony of colors in nature through vibrant blues and purples with a touch of green.  This lumbar pillow is made of our supremely silky soft poly satin fabric. Art works are printed on the front and back. Each has a knife edge finish, and an invisible zipper is located at the bottom of each pillow. Inserts are stuffed with feather and down. Covers are removable and machine washable in cold gentle cycle. Hang dry or tumble dry in low heat and warm iron if necessary.
USH-005  Sunshine Blue
Inspired by the constant movement of light and shadow in nature, “Sunshine Blue” by Usha Shukla portrays bold shades of blue intermingled with soft white space.  Evoking the energy and vitality of earth’s bounty, Usha paints large abstract paintings in vibrant colors. Instead of using conventional tools such as brushes and palette knives, Usha has developed a unique process of mark-making using an air blower to move the paint on wood panels.
USH-002  Achillea Mustard Gold
Achillea Mustard Gold by Usha Shukla was inspired by the constant movement of light and shadow she perceived in nature.  Shades of gold, white, blue and green come together harmoniously to create a vibrant work of art.
USH-001  Achillea Pecan
Overwhelmingly beautiful deep shades of gold and red are balanced by strokes of white, blue and green.
USH-003  Sunrose Lava
“Sunrose Lava” by Usha Shukla was inspired by the movement of light and shadow she perceived in nature, and is a striking display of vibrant shades of red that create movement and depth throughout the design.

“Sunrose Flamenco” was inspired by her perception of light and shadow in nature, and displays bold shades of red intermingled with darker shadows to create the appearance of movement and depth throughout the design.  Each of the lumbar pillows in this series measure 12″X28″.

USH-004  Sunrose Flamenco
Usha’s work is prized by several local art collectors, and she has an extensive list of accolades.  She now serves as an Art Commissioner on the Alameda County Arts Commission.

We at Poetic Pillow are thrilled to bring the fruits of this collaboration to your living spaces.  Pillows are printed on the front and back on a silky satin fabric. Edges are knife edge finished and an invisible zipper enclosure is included at the bottom. Pillows are stuffed with a cotton lined feather and down insert.

Available now in 12″ x 28″ size.  MSRP $148.00 each

O friend beloved, whose curious skill
Keeps bright the last year’s leaves and flowers,
With warm, glad, summer thoughts to fill
The cold, dark, winter hours …

By John Greenleaf Whittier

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
